The Diagnostic Assessment timeline

  1. The student has an eye test if they have not had one within the last twelve months and, if necessary, glasses ordered.
  2. The deposit is paid.
  3. Students and parents/guardians complete questionnaires providing background information, and details of strengths and difficulties; these need to be completed at least one week in advance of the assessment day.
  4. Information is also required from school.  The assessor will provide the questionnaire but it is responsibility of parents/guardians to liaise with the SENCo to gather feedback before the day of the assessment.
  5. A pre-assessment meeting may be arranged once all the questionnaires have been received if further information or clarification is required; this will take place remotely.
  6. The assessor may contact school SENCo and make a school visit.
  7. On the assessment day itself, a range of specialist tests will be carried out.
  8. The assessment process will last approximately three hours and usually take place in the morning.
  9. If you have glasses, you will need to wear them during the assessment.
  10. At the end of session, verbal feedback is given and questions answered.
  11. Once the balance of payment has been received, the report is sent in pdf format protected with a password; this may take up to a month.
  12. Once you have read your report, a follow-up meeting is offered to discuss the report and answer any questions you may have.
